The decision for Bluetooth communication
Over the years, various ways of communicating wirelessly have been tried - infra red, radio frequency, DECT and wi fi. Although some are better than others, they all have shortcomings regarding reliability or cost.

Labware chose a customised version of enhanced Bluetooth because it proved to be more effective in the areas of power consumption, reliability, distance, security and simplicity.

Reliable communications up to 250 metres in each direction from a Geller Labware Bluetooth access point gives effective coverage of 500 metres.

The distance is reduced in buildings with metal girders and thick walls, but even the largest restaurant should be covered with a single access point. Only huge areas such as football stadia will require more than one access point.
